I am reminded this morning of how often the Scripture instructs us to find comfort in the fact that God is with us in trouble. As we as a community enter into a time of isolation & solitude, this truth of God's omnipresence should be an encouragement to us. However, it is not just the recognition of God's presence that will uphold us, it is the fact that he is fully aware of our our individual troubles, and towards us he is compassionate, merciful, and kind. "For the Lord will not cast off forever, but though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; for he does not afflict from his heart or grieve the children of men." (Lam 3:31-33). While our hearts fill with concern, let us remember that our God notices each incremental increase in trouble that we face, and will hold us close, until these calamities pass by.
